I ordered a couple new Bunn carafes and they arrived in time, are just what I needed. They were packed very well.

"Different Feel than Glass Decanter" 2010-04-21
By Kent F. (Metro Chicago)
There is a very negative review, so if was not for Amazon's free shipping we might not have purchased this. Thank goodness for that offer, our office likes it. Main benefit, the plastic and metal means we do not worry about breaking it in everyday use. One of the reasons we needed to get a new one! It appears to scald on the bottom but we had that same problem with glass. This design is suited for us with a group of users but no one really taking responsibility.

"HUGE Disapopintment--Get the full GLASS version from Bunn!" 2009-12-07
By K. A. Ekvall (Iowa, USA)
Here's the scenario: I work in a small lab with about 6-10 coffee drinkers, half of which drink coffee throughout the day, myself included. We have an old Bunn commercial coffee maker with a top and bottom burner, making up to 5-8 pots A DAY. It's on, never shut off from 7AM to 5PM, weekends too though not always. So if you're a restaurant owner or an office like mine, reconsider this product by Bunn--a big disappointment from a company that usually gets it right. I regularly make the coffee and wash it out by hand, with soap and hot water (most days) before shutting it off for the day. I also try not to let old coffee sit too long and burn on the bottom in between each new pot.

Here's the product's claims:

*"Full 64 ounce capacity."--yes.

*"Drip-proof, fast pouring lip"--yes, and a nice feature.

*"Container and handle core are clear, high-impact-resistant material -- all molded as sturdy, extra-strength, one piece construction for longest life."--Sorta: see below

*"Base is high quality stainless steel."--NO: see below

*"The Bunn 6100 is the classic black-handled coffee decanter seen in restaurants the world over."--No: see below

The old version of this replacement decanter had worked for months but it was a different model but I couldn't find it, so I went ahead and bought this one, which looked and sounded even better. For the first few weeks, we all liked it a lot. The handle was ergonomical and comfortable, the lip was narrow for fast dripless pouring, and if someone accidentally filled above the line for the water pitcher that came with the coffee maker, no matter, it was tall enough to accommodate an over zealous coffee maker and have an overflow of precious coffee. Seemed great.

BUT IT'S NOT!

--Hi-impact resistant, sturdy with that pinch of extra-strength for rough handlers? Sure, to a degree. It was nice to not worry it's crack if someone got careless and banged it against something.

--One piece construction? I don't think so--the clear part is hard plastic with a "high quality base made of stainless steel" bottom and obviously isn't one piece construction. It leaked at the seal between the plastic top and metal bottom; and this high-quality base quickly weakened and even flaked metal flecks. Are you kiddng me?

--If this coudln't last a small lab/office for only a few months, how could a restaurant or offices with heavy coffe drinkers??? If you use this exact product for only a couple of hours a day, for a very small group of people, it's perfect--of course it'll be great. But when it's got the Bunn name and claim that it's long-lasting and tough enough for restaurants...I took their word for it. However, anyone using it all day, all the time, heavy use...think twice.

So, for twenty-five bucks ('cuz that's what *I* paid)...you get a product that lasted from July 2009 to Nov 2009--that's only five months. I like Bunn products, which is why I bought their full glass carafe for only thirteen bucks. The glass might not be stainles steel and hard plastic (a good very thing in my case), and even though it'll stain I can clean it out with soap and hot water or vinegar for when there a weeks I only have time to give it a good rinse and leave it be--unlike the full plastic or this Bunn 6100 version (or others like it), which stains and weakens the overall integrity of the product quickly and is impossible to clean out because the mouth is so narrow for that dripless pouring.

I don't know what product everyone else got, but my Bunn 6100 Easy Pour Replacement Decanter in Black was as BUST! Get the glass version which takes away all the problems I had with this replacement carafe at half the cost.

 "Built for commercial use!" 2009-08-10
By Brian J. Buehler (Michigan, USA)
I use mine at home and at family events to make coffee for everyone. It still works perfectly after about 10 years of use! After brewing coffee, I usually pour it into a vacuum insulated carafe to avoid burning the coffee. A quick rinse with hot water, leave the carafe to dry and it's ready the next day when I get to it.

"For quick, always ready to brew coffee - Bunn is the best!" 2010-03-30
By Cricket (Seattle, Wa)
We recently purchased the Bunn A10 Pour-O-Matic Coffee Brewer to replace our BUNN GRXB Original 10-Cup Home Coffee Brewer, Black. When shopping for a new coffee maker there was no question that it would be another Bunn, the question was which one. We decided to go with this one based on the positive reviews, style and pricing.

One thing I would like to point out for others looking to buy is that currently the Product Description is incorrect. This model DOES NOT have a "Brew-Pause" feature, but don't let that dissuade you! The best thing about a Bunn is the speed at which it brews. Because it holds hot water in it's tank, it brews a full pot of coffee in about 3 minutes. This is our reason for buying a Bunn. At our office we go through the first pot of coffee within 5 minutes each morning and to have that second pot available for the latecomers so quickly is perfect.

Brewing is also easy with the Bunn. Add your desired amount of coffee grounds to the filter (we use about 3/4 cup), slide the basket in, make sure the carafe is on the warmer and using the included measuring container, pour the water into the reservoir on top. Just be careful because coffee will being brewing immediately. If you want to keep it hot afterward, just turn on the warmer otherwise it'll be ready in 3 minutes or less.

Another item to note is that I have found Bunn Coffee Filters to be pretty specific in shape and size, so I do buy the ones here on Amazon. They're also a great filler item if you're trying to meet that $25 shipping mark. BUNN BCF100-B 100-Count Basket Filter

This is the best coffee maker we've ever used and have used it for 5 years and it's still making great coffee.

 "Bulletproof and All Business" 2009-12-15
By Jeff (Long Island, NY)
I recently received delivery on my Bunn Model A-10 coffee brewer. This is the pourover model, not the automatic. I purchased it for my home kitchen.

Out of the box...

Weighing in at 14 pounds, this is no lightweight machine. The unit was delivered directly from Bunn and I found it to be packaged tight with nothing broken. When I placed it on the kitchen counter, all I could think was "this thing is all business". Yes, it is a categorized as a commercial unit, however, it is not industrial looking like the Bunn unit you would see at your local coffee shop. It is civilized and stylish. There are no color choices. Black and high polish steel with an almost chrome appearance, Bunn logo up front. There is a very visible warning label behind the decanter which reveals it's commercial heritage, but it is easily removed if desired. Although the unit is only 6.75 inches wide, it is 13.5 inches deep. This takes up a good 2/3 of a standard countertop depth including room for the cord. It is a very serious piece of hardware and sure to be a topic of conversation when guests arrive.

Set Up...

As the instruction manual warns, you cannot plug the A10 in immediately and start brewing. The internal tank needs to be filled with water prior to powering. This water remains in the unit at all times. The manual calls for 2 full pitchers of water and remainder will run off from the sprayhead. Once plugged in, the vacation switch is powered on. This switch remains on unless you plan to be away for several days or more. Then the warmer switch is turned on which controls only the porcelain warming plate. There is no auto shut-off feature, so you need to shut it off manually. Within 10 minutes the water in the internal tank reaches the proper temperature for brewing which, according to the manual, is approx. 200 F. I have not verified that temperature...yet.

Time to Brew...

Ground coffee is placed in the brew funnel and slid into place. The brew funnel is sturdy plastic, one-piece design, but I believe a stainless steel funnel would have better complemented the overall construction of machine. There is no "start" button or switch. You had better have that decanter in place. Once the water is poured into the screened opening on top of unit, brewing starts immediately as there is already water at 200 F in the brewer. The new water poured into machine is in turn quickly heated in the internal tank. Measurements are somewhat confusing. The clear plastic water pitcher supplied with brewer has graduations measured in 12 ounce increments, total of 48 ounces. The increments on the glass decanter, however, are measured in 2 cup increments, total of 10 cups. I calculated each cup measure to be 5 ounces. Depending on the strength of coffee you prefer, it takes some experimenting to get it just right.

Taste...

Bunn A10 brewer - $230.00. Great tasting coffee - Priceless.

The hefty price tag paid was worth while. Very smooth, rich full bodied taste is achieved with no bitterness, just like my local coffee shop. I believe the secret lies in the five-jet stainless sprayhead which evenly saturates the grinds, proper water temperature and tried/tested design. No disappointments and highly recommended.

"great coffee maker, but it will leak eventually" 2009-11-23
By pmh-chico (Chico, CA)
and Bunn does not sell the little 50 cent gasket/rubber washer that is the cause of the leaking. Hopefully my local old fashion hardware store will have a gasket that will work. If you buy a Bunn, it will leak, the question is when. It is still a great coffee maker, and I guess by not making the parts available they sell more units. My current (and now leaking) coffe pot is about 7 years old so that's pretty good, but is sure seeems a waste to have to replace it for lack of a little rubber washer.

"Best coffee maker hands down" 2009-07-10
By Miss M. (Colorado)
We were serial coffee maker buyers until we purchased this Bunn. It's fast, the coffee is hot, and it tastes like coffee, not plastic. Let your search stop here and just buy it already!

 "terrible" 2009-10-10
By pokey
I had two of these worthless grinders. The first one died and Bunn sent me out another(great company BTW). It lasted about the same amount of time. When it finally died I just tossed it, not worth the hassle. It was so loud it would wake the dead and you would have to turn the dial 2 1/2 times to get enough to brew a pot(took forever). And it ground the coffee way too coarse even on the finest setting so you would have to use much more coffee than usual to get it strong enough. Bunn makes great coffeemakers and I'll bet the commercial-grade grinders they make are just fine- but these consumer-grade grinders are complete junk. Back to using a cheap Braun slicer type grinder till I can find a decent burr grinder that doesn't cost a fortune.

 "It grinds too coarse." 2007-08-31
By s73 (NJ)
The Grinder is well made and we have had it for 5 years. But it never ground the coffee fine so you end up using more beans than you might with another product. We are retiring our Bunn. There is nothing more I would want than an american made coffee grinder. But this one is incapable of producing a fine grind for espresso.

"Dissapointing for a Bunn product" 2007-07-10
By Arthur H. Moore (Somerville, MA USA)
Replaced my old Krups when it finally wore out. Should have gotten another Krups. The grind is nowhere as good as the Krups. I have cleaned and taken the cutters out and checked them but does not matter. Have to turn the timer all the way about 3 to 4 times to get enough coffee to make a pot of coffee. Something I did with the Krups in a few seconds. Makes a good paperweight. Bunn should stck to coffeemakers. Love my commercial machine.

"You'll Never Go Back to Ground Coffee" 2007-03-09
By Nohome (Midwest, USA)
This thing makes fresh ground coffee quickly and easy. Sure, you get a few grounds on the counter, but that is the price you pay for perfect coffee. Based on other reviews I read here before I bought, I was amazed at how QUIET this thing was. You heard me right, quiet. Why even our can opener makes more noise, I have no idea why others would complain.

 "deluxe grinder" 2007-03-08
By R. Berube
Less noisy than my previous Braun grinder. Despite rubber seal on grounds chamber, grinds still leak out onto counter, but not excessively.

Grind adjustment knob is inconveniently located in bean compartment. No fine adjustment for expresso. Stores a pound of beans which is more than other retail burr grinders. Seems better constructed than my Braun. Hope it is as dependable as my Bunn coffeemaker.

 "I love it" 2010-03-16
By Kim Garrett (Eugene, Oregon)
My old Bunn coffee pot broke after many years so I was searching for a new coffee pot. I tried other brands and was not satisfied with them at all after using the Bunn coffee pot. I returned all the other coffee makers I had purchased and bought another Bunn on Amazon. Totally worth the money. I love that before I take my daughter to school every day I have a quick pot of coffee made in just a few minutes.

 "BUNN coffee maker" 2010-02-10
By Bryan (Texas)
Great coffee maker, after 3 weeks use the spray nozzle fell off and must have been thrown out will the grounds. Called BUNN and they shipped me two replacements spray heads. I would check your new unit and make sure yours is tight. Love the coffee!

"Best coffee, but the leak problem seems to be widespread" 2009-12-05
By J.Peters
I have used Bunn coffeemakers for many years and they are absolutely the best for speed and the taste of the coffee. My last Bunn I used for more than 15 years. More recently, I replaced mine and 2 others as gifts. At this time all 3 of them are leaking from the seam at the back of the upper reservoir section of coffee maker. This is really a disappointment not to mention a mess.I'm currently looking to see if there's a newer model thst's actually fixed this problem.

 "Great Coffee Maker" 2009-09-12
By Holt Busbee (Huntsville, Alabama)
No words of complaint - this coffee maker does an excellent job of heating water and brewing coffee.

 "beware of recalls" 2009-08-28
By Susan B. Dean (Shirley, MA USA)
I have an older version of this model (B10-B) and it was subject to a recall several years ago. The unit was sent back for repairs however we awoke this morning to find the unit nearly on fire--the smell of bruning plastic and wire was horrendous and I am thankful we were home. Next time if there is a recall I will consider the offer for a discount on a new unit rather than fix it just for my own peace of mind. Despite the problem I really loved my coffee brewer and am already looking at buying another BUNN. As other reviews have noted, if you don't use it for a few days the water does evaporate--I fix this running a full pot a plain water through it(no grounds in the basket) to re-balance the water level. I try not to go more than 2 days without making coffee or running plain water through.

Also--be sure to occasionally check the spray head to make sure it is firmly screwed on. I discovered too late one time that the sprayhead came off and must have been discarded with the grounds. Happily BUNN offers replacements free of charge from their website--it just means going without coffee for a week or so.

 "Superb coffee brewer" 2010-05-17
By J. K. Potoczek (Southwest Florida)
I bought this to replace a Bunn GRBX coffee maker which leaked after eight years of daily use.

This model is a further improvement over the older style. The water temp is hotter and there is negligible

evaporation even if a day is skipped and the water is kept hot. This model uses the same carafe as before.

The overall design is attractive and not as klunky as the older model.

Altogether, this does an excellent job and looks good.

 "Superior Product" 2010-05-15
By W. Knight (Atlanta, GA USA)
This coffee maker is everything we wanted. The brewing temperature enhances the flavor of the coffee and that is important since we recently started roasting our own beans.

We like having a heated water reservoir.

The bunn works fine great 3 minute coffee. Had to have coffee pot replaced. It was defective (would always leak coffee when poured). And it is very loud when reheating water.

I love these Bunn coffee makers, fast, fast, fast.

Just wish they would make better decanters, more commercial style so there is less spilling during filling/pouring

Bunn makes the best coffeemakers as far as I'm concerned . They last , look good on the counter , make a pot of coffee in 3 minutes , what else can you ask for . Nuff said ! Buy a Bunn !
